Privacy Statement of Australian Nurses For Continence
Privacy is an important aspect of the work of Australian Nurses For Continence (ANFC). ANFC has given an undertaking to ensure that information we have about you is held securely and that your confidentiality is protected.
ANFC practices in compliance with the National Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act 1988. The Privacy Act is a law of Australia. We are committed to ensuring that all our dealings comply with the National Privacy Principles and acknowledge the importance of keeping the personal details of members confidential and secure.
This Policy aims to explain the application of the National Privacy Principles to the particular business of ANFC. Consequently this Policy should be read in conjunction with the National Privacy Principles.
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information held by ANFC and explains how the Privacy Principles may apply to you.
Personal information
ANFC holds personal information about members of ANFC.
Data collection
ANFC only collect information that is required to carry out its functions and activities. All personal information collected by ANFC is handled with care and attention to detail.
Type of personal information collected
The type of personal information collected by ANFC includes a member's year of birth, current and previous addresses, contact details and membership details.
How personal information is collected
ANFC collects personal information by State/Territory membership application forms.
ANFC has its own website. You may access the website homepage and browse the site without needing to disclose personal information. The site does not use cookies (a cookie is a block of data that is shared between a web server and a user's browser. A cookie enables the server to collect information about a user's identity, access history and preferences).
ANFC's Privacy Policy does not apply to any websites that are linked to ANFC website over which ANFC has no control.
Use and Disclosure
ANFC will only use personal information provided by members to:
1. Provide members with the services required.
2. Administer and manage these member services.
3. Create combined de-identified data, such as age, gender and other statistics, to respond to specific requests for information from State and/or Commonwealth governments.
ANFC will not disclose individual personal information to a third party, unless consented to by the individual providing the personal information.
Accuracy and Security
ANFC will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information collected, used and disclosed is accurate, complete and current.
ANFC will endeavour to maintain a secure system for storing personal information. All reasonable steps will be taken to protect the personal information provided by individuals from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. Personal information that is no longer used or relevant will be destroyed.
Access and Correction
You have a right to access and, if necessary, to correct, complete or update the personal information provided to and held by ANFC. You can access your personal information, make a correction via the members only section of ANFC's website.
Complaints
ANFC is committed to responding to all complaints fairly. We recognise complaints can provide valuable information on the provision of our services. If you are not satisfied with ANFC's handling of your personal information, you may make a complaint to the President of ANFC. Your complaint will be attended to as soon as possible.
Should you feel that your complaint has not been properly managed or adequately resolved by ANFC, you may direct your complaint to the Privacy Commissioner.
